Links, warnings and rejected posts

Understand Flockly's current X link limit, pre-scheduling checks and what happens when a network rejects a post.

Reviewed 2026-08-09

Clickable X links are not available yet. A post to X can include a URL as plain text, and the composer warns you before you schedule it. Links work normally on the other supported networks and on Shop Grid.

Understand checks and warnings

Flockly checks each selected channel before a post is sent. A blocking message means a requirement must be fixed before Flockly can schedule or publish. A warning asks you to review a likely issue and confirm whether to continue.

Where Flockly can identify a likely problem first, such as a caption over a network limit or an unsuitable aspect ratio, it warns you in the composer. Check the affected channel before saving or scheduling.

For supported image issues, use Fix now, Fix all or Crop when those actions appear. Review the resulting preview for every selected channel before continuing. Saving a draft is still available when the post is not ready to publish.

Links by destination

  • X: a URL can be included as plain text, but clickable X links are not available yet. The composer surfaces this before scheduling.
  • Instagram and TikTok: a post caption is not a substitute for a tappable product destination. Use Shop Grid as the link-in-bio page for product and custom links.
  • Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest: links work normally, subject to each network's own post requirements.
  • Shop Grid: product tiles and custom links use tracked redirects where appropriate, which supports aggregate click and Shopify attribution reporting.

Follow the publishing status

Publishing a multi-channel post is a set of channel results, not one all-or-nothing action. Instagram might confirm first while Facebook or LinkedIn is still being checked. Flockly keeps those results together in the post details so you can see what happened to each destination.

  • Scheduled means the future publishing time is confirmed.
  • Publishing or Awaiting confirmation means at least one selected channel is still queued or being checked.
  • Published means that channel confirmed the post went live.
  • Failed or Needs attention means the channel returned a final problem that needs review.

Do not create a replacement while a channel still says Publishing or Awaiting confirmation. A temporary delay is not the same as a rejection, and publishing another copy can create a duplicate if the first attempt later succeeds. Open the post again after Flockly has received the final result.

If a network rejects a post

Flockly stores the result returned for each channel and shows the reason in the post details. A rejected destination is not marked as published, so the calendar remains an accurate record of what went live.

For a post sent to several channels, one channel can publish while another fails. Channels that already published stay live. Publish now retries only the failed channels without re-uploading media, which avoids deliberately publishing a second copy to destinations that already succeeded.

Resolve and retry a failed post

  1. Open the failed post from Home, Calendar or the failed-post notice in Content.
  2. Review the status and error shown beside each channel.
  3. Fix the reported issue. Use Review connections if an account needs to be reconnected.
  4. Choose Publish now to retry the failed channels immediately, or choose a new future time to reschedule them.
  5. Use Edit when the caption or media needs to change. Remove or cancel the post if it should no longer publish.

If the original post partially succeeded, leave the completed channel results in place. Editing a failed publish automatically focuses the retry on the channels that did not complete.

Common rejection messages

  • Account session expired: reconnect that social account in Connections, refresh its status and retry.
  • Pinterest board missing or invalid: choose a board in Connections before retrying the Pin.
  • Facebook Page required: reconnect Facebook and select a Page rather than a personal profile.
  • Image size or aspect ratio: use the available fix or crop tool, then review the channel preview and retry.
  • X quote post includes media: remove either the media or the quote before retrying.
  • TikTok has unfinished inbox drafts: publish or remove at least one unfinished draft in TikTok, then retry.
  • TikTok daily posting cap or direct-publishing capacity: wait and retry later, spread posts across the day, or use Send to TikTok inbox when that option is offered.
  • Network rate limit: wait a few minutes before retrying. Repeated immediate attempts can continue to be refused by the network.

Social networks control their own limits and can reject content even after Flockly's pre-publish checks pass. The reason displayed on the post is the best starting point.
